5 Tips for Working leadership image on the Internet

With the big boom of social networks, personal relationships are more exposed in the virtual world. The online behavior can even interfere positively or negatively your job and career.
Thus, personal internet marketing is gaining more importance, especially for those who take or intend to take leadership positions based on a good reputation and credibility.
So we give you five tips to work efficiently your professional leadership image on the internet, using social networks.
1 – Identify your skills and abilities:
First, you need to know what your real goals and interests. Where do you want to get to? If you want to be a team leader and work your image on the Internet as such, understand that everything will depend on your skills and capabilities.
Identify and work on them, exalting them. Developing your best features is always more advantageous than if you promote yourself doing something that you are not naturally good at.
2 – Create editorial lines:
Whether on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or even blogs, always think your editorial guidelines. If you want to work your image as a leader, creating a serious and credible reputation, you should be cohesive in what you post, share or disclose.
A leader who, for example, works his motivational image on the Internet, but shares information about rising unemployment and economic crisis is inconsistent in the image she/he wants to convey.
If you want to develop your professional image online, you need to understand that in social networks you can not have an amateur or an entertainment connotation. Accept it as a job.
3 – Do not “sell” what does not exist:
There is a huge difference between praise your good points and invent them. On the internet you can lie about skills and abilities, but remember that your image as a leader in the virtual world is always connected to the real world.
Accept the consequences of selling a false leadership image online. In 2012, for example, the former CEO of Yahoo, Scott Thompson, was fired after the discovery of a lie on his resume.
4 – Think about your friends, fans and followers
When you decide to work your online image, understand that you are also creating an audience. This makes you responsible for all content that decide to publish in social networks or blogs.
So much more than just talk about you, your work and your life, also provide content that will help your target audience in some way. Disclose courses, events,  tips and phrases of leadership and related news.
5 – Online Interaction
If you publish in the Internet, you are exposed to praise, but also criticisms. Be prepared for this. After all, no one can please everyone, especially on the Internet, where users have great power of opinion and are keen to use it.
Interacting with your audience is extremely important. People are not obliged to review your content and if they do, it is because they have been touched in some way. Be sure to answer them.
In cases of positive comments or questions, thank or try to solve the issues raised. Even in negative cases, try to always use the most diplomatic way and emotional intelligence.
